Globe

Globe was a (youth) missions conference held this past weekend at Nuriootpa in the lovely Barossa Valley just north of Adelaide.

I was particularly challenged and blessed by Deborah Storrie’s (TEAR Fund) messages challenging us on how we read the Bible.

It was great to have a couple of helpers on our WEC display. We tried something that has been done at conferences elsewhere, and challenged the young people to come and share Jesus with one of our two ‘Muslim’ friends – in reality a couple of workers recently returned from Indonesia and the Middle East. It took some time to convince people to have a go, and there were many more spectators than participants, but the conversations that did take place were challenging and informative for the young people.

There aren’t many conferences like this in South Australia, so it was good to have the opportunity to connect with some new young people, and maybe be part of their journey into cross-cultural mission.

One Response to “Globe”

  1. One thought I had with the People of Peace concept is that we need to be continually looking for new people of peace. In my experience they seem to come and go and you can’t bank on finding the ONE person, but it seems that God brings different people of peace into the movement at different times.
